No. Thickness must come from the project specification, current TDS or Rayson technical advice. The tool only calculates the thickness entered.

Why do some products have no pack quantity?

When published consumption is expressed in litres but packaging is expressed in kilograms, the calculator will not invent a density conversion.

What material allowance should I use?

There is no universal percentage. Substrate porosity, surface profile, equipment, edges and site handling all influence the allowance.

02 · The correct formula

The same area does not mean the same calculation.

Treating kg/m² as m²/kg produces a completely wrong purchase quantity. The Rayson calculator selects the formula from the published coverage basis and clearly leaves non-convertible cases for technical confirmation.

Area × coats ÷ m² per unit

For primers and thin coatings expressed as the square metres covered by each kilogram or litre.

Consumption

Area × unit per m² × coats

For floors, finishes and membranes expressed as kilograms or litres consumed per square metre.

Thickness consumption

Area × unit per m² per mm × mm

For PurScreed, repair materials and systems installed to a specified film thickness.

Why does practical consumption differ from the theoretical figure?

Porosity, surface profile, level variation, wastage, material left in equipment and actual film thickness all change site consumption. A range is a more honest planning output than a single false-precision number.
