Frequently asked questions
What is the best chemical-resistant flooring for a Singapore plant?
There is no single floor for every chemical. Define the substance, concentration, temperature, contact time, cleaning, traffic and substrate first, then check the appropriate epoxy, PU-cement or specialist lining route against the relevant product TDS.
What is a chemical exposure schedule?
It records each substance, its concentration and temperature, how long and how often it contacts the floor, and how the area is cleaned. The same substance can require a different design when promptly wiped instead of left to pond.
Should I use epoxy or PU-cement?
They serve different duties. LevelShield SL120 is a self-smoothing epoxy industrial wearing surface; PurScreed PC70 is a PU-cement screed. Select only after checking the confirmed chemistry, temperature, traffic, thickness and applicable TDS.
Can a bund use the same system as the main trafficked floor?
Do not assume so. A containment area may face longer ponding and includes upstands, coves, penetrations and terminations; the trafficked floor also faces wear and traffic. Review the two duties separately.
Why do temperature and contact time matter?
A material can behave differently under a brief cold splash and a longer hot exposure. Record process temperature, cleaning temperature and the longest credible contact time in the project brief.
Can chemically attacked concrete simply be recoated?
It should not be assumed suitable for direct recoating. Weak, softened or contaminated material must be taken back to sound substrate and then repaired, tested and primed as required.
How should an oil- or solvent-contaminated slab be handled?
First establish the depth of contamination and substrate condition, then define mechanical preparation, cleaning, testing and repair. Covering contamination does not create a sound bond.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Send site photos, approximate area, substrate and existing-coating condition, exposure schedule, traffic, drainage, access restrictions and shutdown window. An incomplete brief is still enough to start the conversation.
What if the substance is outside the available product data?
Do not infer resistance from a similar chemical name. Send the full substance details to Rayson so the published data can be checked and further compatibility verification discussed where necessary.
