    Inspect and prepare the substrate

    Prepared new and existing concrete (minimum 28 days old, moisture content below 5%)

  2. 02

    Prepare the material as specified

    Two pre-weighed parts, mix ratio 1:1 by weight; mix mechanically for at least 2–3 minutes; pot life up to 30 minutes at 28 °C

  3. 03

    Apply with the correct tools

    Recommended methods: Roller, Brush, Airless spray. Confirm coat count and thickness for the project.

  4. 04

    Protect through the required cure

    Final cure 7 days; minimise heavy traffic for 8 hours after application on pavements

Choose something else when

  • Minimum substrate temperature 5 °C; curing between +10 °C and +35 °C; concrete moisture content maximum 5%
  • Mixed material must be used within its pot life; cures faster in hot weather and in large batches
  • Solvent-based — provide adequate ventilation; not recommended for occupied areas without ventilation control
  • Not a wearing surface — must be overcoated
  • Occupied or poorly ventilated areas — solvent-based formulation
  • Use as a finished wearing surface without an overcoat
  • Substrates with moisture content above 5%

Common technical questions

What to know before specifying Rayson PrimeBond S30.

Why does dense concrete need two coats?

Dense, power-floated concrete absorbs very little primer, and porous concrete absorbs unevenly. Two thinner coats achieve consistent wetting and a uniform seal, which prevents defects in the finish coats above.

Can PrimeBond S30 be used indoors?

Only with adequate ventilation during application and cure — it is solvent-based. For enclosed or occupied areas, PrimeBond E20 (solvent-free) or PrimeBond W10 (water-based) are the safer choices.

How long before the deck can take traffic?

Keep heavy traffic off for at least 8 hours after application on pavements, and note the primer itself is not the wearing surface — full return to service depends on the complete system. Confirm programme timings with our technical team.

What preparation does the concrete need?

Mechanical preparation by shot blasting, milling or diamond grinding to a sound, open surface, with weak concrete removed, defects patched and all dust vacuumed off.

Does it work on damp slabs?

Substrate moisture must not exceed 5%. For slabs that cannot meet this, PrimeBond E20 tolerates damp surfaces — discuss the slab condition with our technical team.
