    New and existing concrete (minimum 28 days old, moisture content below 5%)

    Prepare the material as specified

    Two pre-weighed parts, mix ratio 2:1 (A:B) by weight; mix mechanically for at least 2–3 minutes; pot life up to 30 minutes at 30 °C

    Apply with the correct tools

    Recommended methods: Roller, Brush, Airless spray. Confirm coat count and thickness for the project.

    Protect through the required cure

    Final cure 7 days

Choose something else when

  • Minimum substrate temperature 5 °C; curing between +10 °C and +35 °C
  • Substrate moisture content must not exceed 5% — damp is acceptable, standing water is not
  • Mixed material must be used within its pot life; cures faster in hot weather and in large batches
  • Not a wearing surface — must be overcoated with a Rayson body coat or finish
  • Use as a finished wearing surface without an overcoat
  • Substrates with standing water or moisture content above 5%
  • Slabs with active rising damp or hydrostatic pressure without a specialist barrier system
  • UV-exposed surfaces left uncoated — epoxy will yellow and chalk outdoors

What to know before specifying Rayson PrimeBond E20.

Can PrimeBond E20 be applied to damp concrete?

Yes — it is formulated for dry or damp substrates, provided there is no standing water and substrate moisture does not exceed 5%. For slabs above that, or with active moisture ingress, speak to our technical team before specifying.

Do I always need a primer under a Rayson floor coating?

In almost all cases, yes. The primer seals porosity, prevents pinholing in the body coat and provides the adhesion the whole system relies on. Skipping it is the most common cause of coating failure.

How soon can the next coat go on?

The primer must be firm enough to walk on but still within its overcoat window. Confirm exact recoat times with our technical team for your programme.

Is it safe to use in enclosed spaces?

PrimeBond E20 is solvent-free and stated as suitable for unventilated areas. Standard PPE and good working practice still apply; consult the SDS once available.

What surface preparation is required?

Mechanical preparation — captive shot blasting, milling or diamond grinding — to a sound, open, dust-free surface. Weak concrete must be removed, defects filled, and all dust vacuumed off before priming.

Can it go over an old epoxy floor?

Yes, provided the existing coating is sound and well bonded. Abrade the surface, clean thoroughly and carry out an adhesion trial first.
