A controlled route to applying Rayson LevelShield SL120.

    Inspect and prepare the substrate

    Mechanically prepared concrete (minimum 28 days old, moisture content below 5%)

  2. 02

    Prepare the material as specified

    Two pre-weighed parts, mix ratio 4:1 (A:B) by weight; mix mechanically for at least 2–3 minutes; pot life up to 20 minutes at 28 °C

  3. 03

    Apply with the correct tools

    Recommended methods: Steel trowel, Notched rake, Squeegee and roller, Spike roller to de-aerate. Confirm coat count and thickness for the project.

  4. 04

    Protect through the required cure

    At +20 °C: foot traffic 24 h, light traffic 4 days, full cure 7 days. At +30 °C: foot traffic 18 h, light traffic 2 days, full cure 5 days. Recoat window 24 h–2 days at +20 °C (16 h–1 day at +30 °C)

  • Minimum substrate temperature 5 °C; curing between +10 °C and +35 °C; concrete moisture content maximum 5%
  • Short pot life (about 20 minutes at 28 °C) demands organised batching and placement
  • Cure and overcoat times are approximate and shift with ambient and substrate conditions
  • Epoxy chemistry — not colour-stable under exterior UV exposure
  • Exterior UV-exposed decks without a UV-stable topcoat
  • Substrates with moisture above 5% or rising damp
  • Severe thermal-shock zones such as hot wash-down areas — use Rayson PurScreed PC70
  • Sloped surfaces where a self-smoothing product cannot hold grade

It is applied as a self-smoothing wearing coat at a consumption of roughly 1.6–2.0 kg/m²; the achieved thickness depends on filling grade and levelness of the slab. Confirm the build-up for your traffic with our technical team.

When can the floor take traffic?

Indicatively, foot traffic within about a day, light traffic in 2–4 days and full cure in 5–7 days depending on temperature — faster in warm conditions.

Does it need a primer?

Yes. Apply over a suitable Rayson epoxy primer such as PrimeBond E20 on mechanically prepared concrete to guarantee adhesion and avoid pinholes from substrate porosity.

How chemical-resistant is it?

The system is rated for medium to heavy chemical resistance. For a specific chemical exposure — substance, concentration, temperature and contact time — always verify against the resistance schedule with our technical team.

Why does the pot life matter so much?

Mixed material stays workable for only around 20 minutes at 28 °C and cures faster in bulk. Batching, placement and spike-rolling need to run as a continuous, well-crewed operation.

Is it suitable for clean rooms?
