Rayson technical specialists inspecting a high-performance floor in a modern industrial facility
Industry

Floors specified against your actual chemical exposure

Chemical processing floors face spills, splash zones, wash-downs and thermal cycling. Rayson supplies chemical-resistant epoxy and polyurethane-cement systems with coved details that protect concrete and keep bunds and process areas serviceable.

Common surface problems

  • Acid, alkali and solvent attack etching unprotected concrete
  • Thermal shock from hot process water and steam cleaning
  • Coating breakdown at coves, drains and plinths
  • Contamination trapped in cracked or porous floors

Operating conditions

  • Frequent wash-down and chemical dosing
  • Forklift and drum traffic across process areas
  • Bunded storage areas requiring liquid-tight finishes
  • Shutdown-window-only access for refurbishment

Surface preparation considerations

  • Identify chemical exposure (type, concentration, temperature, contact time) before system selection
  • Neutralise and clean contaminated slabs before mechanical preparation
  • Detail coves, drains and joints as part of the system design

Maintenance

  • Log spills and clean promptly even on resistant floors
  • Inspect bunds and splash zones quarterly
  • Re-seal joints and details before they open

A recommended combination

Standard epoxy floor system

  1. Mechanically prepare and vacuum the substrate
  2. Prime with Rayson PrimeBond E20
  3. Apply Rayson LevelShield SL120 self-levelling body coat

This is a typical build-up. The exact system depends on your conditions — confirm the specification with our technical team.
