02

Choose something else when

  • Ambient and surface temperature above 10 °C, and at least 5 °C above the dew point
  • Surface must be dry, clean and free of loose paint, dust, grease, oil, wax and biological growth
  • Neutral colour only — pair with a coloured finish coat where colour is required
  • Texture grade is fixed by the factory aggregate blend
  • Smooth decorative finishes — the aggregate texture is the point
  • Glazed tiles or non-porous glossy surfaces without specialist preparation
  • Heavy forklift traffic areas — use an epoxy or PU-cement system
  • Application below 10 °C or onto damp, contaminated surfaces

Common technical questions

What to know before specifying Rayson GripSafe AP12.

How does GripSafe AP12 differ from broadcasting aggregate?

The quartz is pre-blended into the product, so texture is uniform with no broadcasting, sweeping or wastage — and no thin spots where the grit missed.

Does it need a topcoat?

It works as a stand-alone anti-slip coat in its neutral colour; where colour or extra cleanability is wanted, overcoat with UraForce HY15 or CourtFlex AC25.

How aggressive is the texture?

The aggregate is graded 0.5–1.5 mm — a firm pedestrian anti-slip profile. If you need a specific measured slip rating for compliance, confirm the requirement with our technical team.

Can it go on asphalt?

Yes — asphalt is a listed substrate alongside concrete, stone, unglazed tiles and pavers.

How soon can it be recoated or walked on?

Indicatively touch dry in 30–60 minutes, recoatable in 2–4 hours and fully cured in a day at 25 °C.
