    Inspect and prepare the substrate

    New and existing concrete (minimum 28 days old, moisture content below 5%)

    Prepare the material as specified

    Two pre-weighed parts, mix ratio 4:1 (A:B) by weight; mix mechanically for at least 2–3 minutes; pot life up to 30 minutes at 30 °C

  3. 03

    Apply with the correct tools

    Recommended methods: Roller, Brush, Airless spray. Confirm coat count and thickness for the project.

    Protect through the required cure

    Final cure 7 days

Choose something else when

  • Minimum substrate temperature 5 °C; mix and cure between +10 °C and +35 °C
  • Substrate moisture content must not exceed 5%
  • Prepared substrate must reach at least 1.5 N/mm² pull-off strength
  • Mixed material must be used within its pot life; cures faster in hot weather and in large batches

What finish does FloorGuard R50 give?

Applied plain it cures to a smooth gloss; broadcast with graded aggregate between coats it builds a slip-resistant texture for ramps and wet areas. Both are the same coating, finished differently.

How is FloorGuard R50 applied and at what coverage?

It is roller-, brush- or spray-applied over a Rayson epoxy primer, normally in 2 coats at 0.3–0.5 kg/m² per coat. Actual coverage varies with the substrate condition and porosity.

Does FloorGuard R50 need a primer?

Yes. It is applied over a Rayson epoxy primer such as PrimeBond E20 — one to two primer coats depending on substrate absorbency — which seals the surface and provides the adhesion the system relies on.

Can it be used in car parks and food production areas?

Yes — as a sealing coat over a broadcast system it suits multi-storey and underground car park decks, and wet process areas in the food and beverage industry. For hot, aggressive washdown, consider a PurScreed PU-cement screed instead.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

No. Like all epoxies it yellows and chalks under UV, so it is an interior product. For UV-exposed decks, finish with a Rayson UraForce polyurethane topcoat.
