Hangar floors that shrug off hydraulic fluid

Aerospace hangars and MRO facilities need seamless, hard-wearing floors that resist hydraulic fluids, take point loads from jacking and tooling, and stay easy to inspect and clean. Rayson supplies epoxy primer, self-levelling and coating systems suited to hangar and workshop floors.

Common surface problems

  • Hydraulic fluid, fuel and lubricant spills attacking unprotected concrete
  • Dusting concrete contaminating clean work zones
  • Point loading from aircraft jacks, docking and tooling
  • Joint and surface damage from towing and GSE traffic

Operating conditions

  • Large open floor plates with long trafficked routes
  • Strict FOD (foreign object debris) control expectations
  • Scheduled maintenance windows that limit downtime
  • High-visibility line marking and demarcation requirements

Surface preparation considerations

  • Mechanical preparation (captive shot blasting or diamond grinding) to an open, sound profile
  • Moisture testing of slabs before application
  • Repair of joints and spalls with epoxy mortar before coating

Maintenance

  • Regular cleaning with neutral detergents; avoid aggressive solvent washing
  • Inspect high-traffic lanes and jacking points annually
  • Recoat wear lanes before the substrate is exposed

A recommended combination

Standard epoxy floor system

  1. Mechanically prepare and vacuum the substrate
  2. Prime with Rayson PrimeBond E20
  3. Apply Rayson LevelShield SL120 self-levelling body coat
