What to investigate

Check preparation, contamination, moisture and surface strength. If the interface has failed, adding another coat usually repeats the failure.

Dusting

Fine grey powder returns across the floor, on stock and on equipment, however often it is swept.

The weak surface paste on the concrete has never been sealed, so traffic keeps abrading the slab itself into airborne dust.

Grind or shot-blast away the laitance, then bind the surface with a penetrating primer and a sealed body coat.

Peeling and delamination

The coating lifts at edges and joints, curls away in sheets, or comes off cleanly with adhesive tape.

Adhesion failed at the interface rather than in the coating — usually inadequate preparation, surface contamination or moisture behind the film.

Establish why the bond failed before recoating, then reinstate with mechanical preparation and a primer matched to the slab condition.

Blistering and bubbling

Domed bubbles appear under the film, sometimes holding liquid, often in the same areas each time.

Moisture moving up through the slab or screed has nowhere to escape and lifts the coating off the substrate.

Test substrate moisture before specifying, and prime with a damp-tolerant system matched to the reading.

Questions buyers ask before selection

How do I know which floor coating I need?

Work from two facts before any product name: the substrate you are coating and the conditions it must survive. Concrete, screed, walls and roofs each demand different preparation and priming, and forklift traffic, wash-down, chemicals, UV or static control then decide the body coat and finish.

Why is my epoxy floor peeling, bubbling or dusting?

These are interface failures, not paint quality problems. Peeling usually means preparation or contamination; bubbling means moisture moving up through the slab with nowhere to escape; dusting means unsealed surface paste on the concrete. Each has a different correction, so diagnose before recoating.

Can one coating system cover a whole facility?

Rarely. A warehouse aisle, wash-down bay, cold room, chemical bund, ramp and office corridor face different traffic, temperature and chemistry, so each zone needs its own primer, body coat, texture and finish. Facilities are normally specified zone by zone, not building-wide.

What is the difference between epoxy and PU screed flooring?

Epoxy is harder and more economical for ambient-temperature floors facing inorganic chemistry. Polyurethane-cement, or PU screed, is specified where the floor faces hot wash-down, steam or organic acids, because epoxy can crack or soften under thermal shock.

Which floor coating is best for a warehouse with forklift traffic?

Specify by traffic class rather than by product. Daily forklift movement normally calls for a self-levelling epoxy over a matched primer, giving a seamless high-strength wearing surface, while lighter storage and pallet-truck areas can use a roller-applied epoxy at lower cost.

What information does Rayson need to recommend a system?

The substrate and its current condition, the floor area, what the floor is doing wrong, the traffic and chemical exposure it faces, how it is cleaned, and the shutdown window available. Photographs of the existing surface usually answer more than a written description.
